Ulsan
Jujeon-dong, Dong-gu, Ulsan
Jujeon Mongdol Beach, one of Ulsan's Twelve Scenic Views, is a popular summer beach destination for Ulsan citizens. Jujeon means “red soil,” referring to the area's reddish-hued earth. Mongdol refers to smooth, rounded stones without sharp edges. Along the 1.5km coastline of the East Sea, smooth black pebbles, 3-6cm in diameter, stretch out in a long line, creating a spectacular view. The beach features numerous bizarre rock formations like Yellow Rock and Saetdol Rock. Furthermore, the sound of the waves at Jujeon Mongdol Beach is counted among the Nine Sounds of Dong-gu. The national highway winding between mountains and sea is an excellent drive course, and with many nearby attractions, it also gains popularity as a winter tourist destination.
