It features the Great Buddha Hall, the Hall of Original Enlightenment, the Rakga Meditation Hall, the Seokgulam Cave, and the Rock-carved Avalokitesvara Statue. Founded in May 1930 by the Venerable Taeheo Hongseon, it has undergone two expansions to reach its present form. Sunheunghyanggyo Confucian School (순흥향교)
Gyeongsangbukdo 15-36, Cheonggu-gil, Yeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do The exact founding date of Soonheung Hyanggyo is unknown, but it is presumed to have been established during the late Goryeo period or early Joseon period. It was initially built in Geumseong, north of Sunheung-bu, then relocated east to Yadong in 1718 (the 44th year of King Sukjong's reign). It was later moved south to Seokgyo-ri in 1750 (the 26th year of King Yeongjo's reign), and finally relocated to its present location in 1770 (the 46th year of King Yeongjo's reign). It underwent major repairs in 1971, with the pavilion and dancheong (traditional multicolored paintwork) restored in 1975. Originally, Sunheung Hyanggyo served as a space where Confucian scholars of the Sunheung region during the Joseon Dynasty resided to pursue their studies, enshrined the spirit tablets of Confucius and other sages, and performed ancestral rites. Later, it was also used as a local autonomous institution, but after the 16th century, difficulties in operating the hyanggyo and socio-economic changes led to the weakening of its educational function, leaving only the ritual function. The existing buildings include the 7-bay Daeseongjeon Hall, the 6-bay Myeongnyundang Hall, the 5-bay Dongmu and Seomu halls, the 4-bay Dongjae dormitory, the 7-bay gate tower, the three-door gate, the side gate, and the office. The Daeseongjeon enshrines the spirit tablets of the Five Sages and Ten Sages. The Dongmu and Seomu enshrine the spirit tablets of the Six Sages of the Song Dynasty and the Eighteen Sages of Korea. Additionally, the complex houses documents created during the operation of the Hyanggyo in the late Joseon period, such as the Jipsa-an (Records of Administrative Affairs), Myeonbunryuwonim-an (Records of the Appointment of County Officials), and Gyojungjaprok (Miscellaneous Records of the School). Sueojangdae Post (수어장대)
Gyeonggido 107-65, Namhansanseong-ro 780beon-gil, Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do The Sujeongjangdae Pavilion is a military watchtower built for command and observation purposes. It is the only remaining one of the five pavilions (Dongjangdae, Seojangdae, Namjangdae, Bukjangdae, Oedongjangdae) that once stood at Namhansanseong Fortress. Located at the summit of Cheongnyangsan Mountain (482m above sea level), it is the most splendid and magnificent structure remaining within the fortress walls. The lower level is a two-story pavilion with a hip-and-gable roof, measuring 5 bays wide and 3 bays deep. The upper level measures 3 bays wide and 2 bays deep. Both levels feature overlapping eaves. The ends of the rafters are adorned with clay finials, dragon heads are placed on the eave ridges, and dragon-head finials crown the ridgepole. The building's pillars rest on octagonal pillar bases 60 cm high, and the brackets are of the main-post style with protruding eaves. In the 27th year of King Yeongjo's reign (1751), it was expanded into a two-story pavilion. A plaque reading ‘Sueojangdae (Defensive Command Post)’ was installed on the exterior, and one reading ‘Muwangnu (Tower of Remembrance)’ was placed inside. KANGKANGEE Arts Village (깡깡이 예술마을)
Busan 36 Daepyeongbuk-ro, Yeongdo-gu, Busan In the late 19th century, Korea's first modern shipyard was established, and there are still more than a dozen repair shipyards and about 200 industrial companies in the area. It is said that the name of the village was born from the sound of a hammer hitting the surface of a rusty boat. In "My Name," it appeared as Inchang-si, the main stage of gangsters, and the unique atmosphere harmonized well with the content, adding to the dramatic fun. There are also many cute cafes to explore, and it is fun to experience a tour program that runs three times a day on weekends. [이 게시물은 최고관리자님에 의해 2025-11-15 19:43:31 [복사본] Korea Trip에서 이동 됨]

Ganghwahyanggyo Confucian School (강화향교)
Incheon 58, Hyanggyo-gil, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon Ganghwa Hyanggyo, designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Incheon Metropolitan City, was a local educational institution established to promote learning and moral cultivation among the people. It was originally founded in 1127 during the Goryeo Dynasty in Gocheon-ri, Naega-myeon. In 1232, it was relocated to Gapgot-ri in Ganghwa-eup, and later moved again to Boreumdo in Seodo-myeon. In 1624, Sim Yeol, who was then the magistrate of Ganghwa, relocated the hyanggyo once more to the foothills of Songaksan. In 1629, the Myeongnyundang lecture hall was built, upgrading the institution to the status of a state-supported school known as Hakkung. In 1673, magistrate Min Si-jung moved it near Namsan, and in 1731, magistrate Yu Cheok-gi moved it to its current location. The architectural complex of Ganghwa Hyanggyo consists of the Daeseongjeon shrine hall, the Eastern and Western side halls (Dongmu and Seomu), Naesammun gate, Myeongnyundang lecture hall, Eastern and Western dormitories (Dongjae and Seojae), and Oesammun gate. Myeongnyundang served as the main lecture hall where students gathered to study. Historically, the hyanggyo received land, slaves, and books from the state and performed both educational and ritual functions. Today, its educational role has disappeared, and only its function as a ceremonial shrine remains. [이 게시물은 최고관리자님에 의해 2025-11-13 12:44:18 [복사본] Korea Trip에서 이동 됨]

Gagopa Kkoburang-gil Mural Village (가고파 꼬부랑길 벽화마을)
Gyeongsangnamdo 15-8, Seonghoseo 7-gil, Masanhappo-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do Gagopa Kkoburang-gil Mural Village was created in December 2013 along the alleys connecting around 30 households in the Chusan-dong and Seongho-dong area. The tour begins at the point where Seonghoseo 10-gil and Seonghoseo 2-gil meet, where a mural village guide map is installed. It is easy to find thanks to the large murals depicting artists connected to Changwon—such as sculptor Moon Shin and poet Cheon Sang-byeong—painted in the style of Mount Rushmore’s iconic carved faces. The 450-meter alley and stairway are filled with a variety of paintings. At the end of a short rainbow-colored stone stairway stands the Centennial Well, which has been used by local residents since 1910. Next to the well, the water-carrier mural overlooking Masan Port is the village’s most popular photo spot. In addition, the narrow alleys are decorated with murals reminiscent of Mondrian’s works, a fish mural symbolizing the “gateway to success,” and wall paintings that make a simple wall look like the entrance to a cozy café. Beautiful artwork fills every corner of the village, making the walk enjoyable from start to finish. When visiting Gagopa Kkoburang-gil Mural Village, please remember that this is a residential area where people live. Visitors should avoid any behavior that may invade the privacy of the local residents. [이 게시물은 최고관리자님에 의해 2025-11-13 12:44:18 [복사본] Korea Trip에서 이동 됨]

Danggogae Catholic Martyrs' Shrine (당고개순교성지)
Seoul 139-26, Cheongpa-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul Dangogae Martyrs’ Shrine is located on a small hill just a five-minute walk from Yongsan Electronics Market. The shrine honors nine canonized saints and one beatified martyr who died there. In 1839, near the end of the Gihae Persecution, ten Catholic men and women were martyred at this site. They were originally scheduled for execution at Seosomun, but merchants in the Seosomun area requested that the execution site be moved so they could hold the important Seollal holiday market. As a result, the executions were relocated to Dangogae, and the martyrs are now commemorated here. The shrine was created with the theme “The Pain of Wild Roses, the Fragrance of Plum Blossoms.” The thorns of wild roses symbolize the suffering of persecution, while the fragrance of plum blossoms represents God’s grace. The 14 Stations of the Cross at Dangogae follow the journey of Blessed Maria Yi Seong-rye, allowing visitors to reflect on both the path of suffering and the glory of martyrdom. Due to the tragic stories of the martyrs and the panoramic view overlooking central Seoul, Dangogae Martyrs’ Shrine attracts a steady stream of pilgrims throughout the year. It is also close to other martyrdom sites and landmarks such as Saenamteo Church and Yongsan Family Park. The shrine is located about a 15-minute walk from Exit 5 of Hyochang Park Station on Seoul Subway Line 6. [이 게시물은 최고관리자님에 의해 2025-11-13 12:44:04 [복사본] Korea Trip에서 이동 됨]

Dangganjiju (Flagpole Supports) in Unheung-dong and Five-Sto…
Gyeongsangbukdo 231, Eunheung-dong, Andong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do A flagpole support (dangganjiju) is a structure installed at the entrance of a Buddhist temple. Whenever the temple held ceremonies or rituals, a long pole called a danggan was erected, and a flag—known as dang—was hung from it. The two stone pillars that stand on either side of this pole to support it are called dangganjiju. The Dangganjiju of Unheung-dong, Andong dates back to the Unified Silla period and stands 2.6 meters tall. The upper parts of both pillars were damaged during the Korean War. Between the two pillars remains a round stone base that once supported the flagpole; it is simple and unadorned in design. Although the name of the temple to which this dangganjiju belonged is unknown, it is presumed to have been Beopnimsa Temple, which is believed to be the same temple associated with the nearby Five-story Brick Pagoda of Unheung-dong. Because the flagpole support stood in the front yard of a temple, its presence indicates that this site was once the location of Beopnimsa. Records from Yeonggaji concerning Beopnimsa’s former pagoda and entries on Beopnimsa in the Dongguk Yeoji Seungnam also support the assumption that the dangganjiju and the five-story pagoda belonged to the temple. The Five-story Brick Pagoda of Unheung-dong, Andong is also a structure from the Unified Silla period. It was partially destroyed during the Korean War, but was restored in 1962. Since its construction, the pagoda has undergone multiple repairs, which have altered some of its original form and significantly damaged its appearance. This site is believed to be the former grounds of Beopnimsa Temple, and the dangganjiju located about 5 meters west of the pagoda further supports this claim. The pagoda stands 8.35 meters tall. The body of the pagoda is built using plain bricks measuring 27.5 cm in length, 12.5 cm in width, and 6 cm in thickness. These bricks were stacked in alternating long and short patterns to form five stories. Originally, the pagoda is said to have had seven stories, and like the pagoda of Beopheungsa Temple, it once featured a gilded bronze finial. Each story contains a small niche for enshrining a Buddha statue, and together with the roof tiles on the upper surfaces, these elements suggest remnants of wooden pagoda architecture. On the south side of the second story, a granite panel carved with two guardian figures (Inwang) is installed. [이 게시물은 최고관리자님에 의해 2025-11-13 12:44:04 [복사본] Korea Trip에서 이동 됨]
