Located east of Naksan Mountain in central Seoul, this traditional temple is the headquarters of the Korean Buddhist Kwanum Order. It features the Great Buddha Hall, the Hall of Original Enlightenment, the Rakga Meditation Hall, the Seokgulam Cave, and the Rock-carved Avalokitesvara Statue. Founded in May 1930 by the Venerable Taeheo Hongseon, it has undergone two expansions to reach its present form.
It is said the site was chosen based on feng shui principles, which held that establishing a temple here would bring peace to Seoul and stability to its citizens' lives. The temple offers Temple Stay programs where visitors can experience traditional Korean Buddhist culture, including meditation and daily temple life.
