Udo's Coral Beach glows white with a hint of blue beneath emerald sunlight, earning its name Seobinbaeksa for its white sands on the island's western shore. The sea's color shifts with depth, rivaling any Pacific or Mediterranean waters. It's popular as a beach in summer and a great photo spot in spring and fall. Nearby, you'll find many restaurants serving Udo peanut ice cream and handmade burgers, along with charming cafes. The sand here is formed from red algae, a type of marine algae, washed ashore and deposited. This type of beach is also called a red algae concretion coral beach. Red algae conglomerate refers to the state where red algae accumulate calcium carbonate during their physiological processes, hardening into a rock-like solid. Beaches formed from red algae conglomerate are rare worldwide, making them academically valuable.
