2025.10.19　 Chungcheongnamdo　

Chungcheongnamdo 15-5 Waemok-gil, Dangjin-si, Chungcheongnam-do Waemok Village, surrounded by the West Sea, is located on the northernmost point of Dangjin in Chungcheongnam-do. Because of its long and narrow geographical characteristics and the topographic division of the sea into the west and east regions, one can enjoy the beautiful sunrise, sunset and moonrise here. The village is a popular attraction for photographers, especially for photos of the natural landscape.

Waemok Beach (왜목해수욕장)

Chungcheongnamdo 26 Waemok-gil, Seongmun-myeon, Dangjin-si, Chungcheongnam-do Waemok Beach protrudes eastward along the coast, offering views of sunrise, sunset, and moonrise. With sandy shores and rocky outcrops, visitors can enjoy swimming in the sea, rock fishing, and exploring tidal flats. A 1.2km waterfront deck allows for leisurely walks along the beach. Additionally, there is a Sailing Around the World Exhibition Hall and operating summer yacht experience programs.

Unyeo Beach (운여해변)

Chungcheongnamdo 535-57 Jangsampo-ro, Gonam-myeon, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Unyeo Beach, located on Anmyeondo Island and facing the Yellow Sea, is characterized by its coastal dune and doksal, walls constructed for trapping fish at low tide, creating picturesque scenery. To the south of the beach, a breakwater adorned with pine trees, transforms into an island-like platform filled with water at high tide, offering stunning views at sunset. The beach welcomes swimmers during the summer season.

Uncle Strawberry’s Farm (논산 딸기삼촌농장)

Chungcheongnamdo Byeongsa-ri, Nonsan-si, Chungcheongnam-do Uncle Strawberry originally sold his products to retail distributors such as markets, department stores and discount stores. However, the farm changed into an experience farm in order to provide the freshest produce to consumers. With no retailers in-between, Uncle Strawberry is now able to provide his best quality strawberries to his customers at a lower price. Uncle Strawberry products have been certified organic, using all-natural and eco-friendly farming methods.

Uihang Beach (의항해수욕장)

Chungcheongnamdo Uihang-ri, Sowon-myeon, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Uihang Beach, situated in Taean, gets its name from "Uihang," meaning the neck of an ant, alluding to the area's narrow and elongated terrain. The beach features a gentle slope with both sands and pebbles. Fishing is available on the breakwater, and the vicinity offers various accommodations, including a campground, pensions, lodgings, and a hanok resort.

Tomb of Seven Hundred Patriotic Martyrs (Geumsan) (금산 칠백의총)

Chungcheongnamdo 50, Uichong-gil, Geumsan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do The Tomb of Seven Hundred Patriotic Martyrs is a renowned historical attraction located in Geumsan, Chungcheongnam-do. This holy site is interred with 700 patriots who died in a battle against 15,000 Japanese soldiers in Geumsan during the Imjin War in 1592. Among the deceased is the leader, Jo Heon.Shrines and monuments were built in memory and respect of the patriotic spirit of those who died in the battle. The site is especially popular among families with children as an attraction as visitors can learn a valuable history lesson as well as enjoy a relaxing walk around the area. In addition, the Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea hosts an annual ceremonial rite every year on September 23 at 15:00, offering more to see for visitors.

Taehaksan Recreational Forest (태학산자연휴양림)

Chungcheongnamdo 188, Donmaru 1-gil, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do Taehaksan Mountain is located south of the borders of Sucheol-ri, Asan; Samtae-ri, and Maedang-ri in Cheonan. The mountain is known for the Rock-carved Standing Buddha (Treasure No. 407), which displays typical patterns of Buddha statues from the Goryeo era. The mountain gets its name from its shape that resemble a dancing crane. Native flowers and trees are scattered throughout the mountain, and the park's dense pine forest makes this park a great family vacation destination.

Splas Resom (스플라스 리솜)

Chungcheongnamdo 45-7, Oncheondanji 3-ro, Yesan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Splas Resom, previously called Resom Spa Castle, is Korea’s first membership spa resort. Spa Castle is located in Yesan, Chungcheongnam-do, which is only an hour and a half drive away from Seoul. It is within 30 minutes drive from beautiful mountains, the western seas, and close to plenty of cultural tourist attractions. Splas Resom uses waters from the Deoksan hot springs, whose waters have been enjoyed by Koreans for six hundred years. The resort is equipped with a large banquet hall, seminar room, and a relaxation complex that includes everything from a cultural arts plaza, to a garden, and walking trails. The hot spring waters are known to be effective against skin troubles, gastroenteric disorders, neuralgia, and muscular pains, and are also great for skin rejuvenation.

Taeanhaean National Park (태안해안국립공원)

Chungcheongnamdo 9, Gwisil-gil, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Taeanhaean National Park includes nearly 130 islands in the area around Taean-gun, designated as a Slow City. The park has a picturesque landscape with beautiful beaches, rock formations, mountain peaks and sea cliffs. The area (328.99 ㎢) was designated as a national park in October 1978, and at present, nearly 250 different species of plants grow within its boundaries.

Taean Taeeulam Hermitage (태을암(태안))

Chungcheongnamdo 78-132, Woni-ro, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Taeeulam Hermitage is well-known for Rock-carved Standing Buddha Triad, designated as National Treasure No. 307. Featuring gently smiling Buddhas, Taean’s Budda Triad has a unique formation with a smaller Bodhisattva figure set in the middle with two Buddha statues on the sides, being different from a typical triad which usually features a main Buddha in the middle surrounded by two Hyeopsi Bosal (Buddhist saint) on the sides. Taeeulam Hermitage is located on the western coast, providing opportunities to interact with China and Chinese culture but this also allowed for frequent appearances of foreign raiders. With this geographical background, Taean was able to accept Chinese precedent culture earlier than other areas and established excellent Buddhist cultural relics.

Surichigol Holy Ground (수리치골 성지)

Chungcheongnamdo 544 Yongsubonggap-gil, Sinpung-myeon, Gongju-si, Chungcheongnam-do Surichigol Holy Ground is a Catholic sanctuary located deep in the mountains of Guksabong Peak in the western part of Gongju-si. It holds significance as a site where Korean Catholics organized themselves while hiding from persecution during the 19th century. Today, it is designated as a sanctuary dedicated to the Virgin Mary, providing a retreat house for Catholics to experience nature away from urban areas.

Surakgyegok Valley (수락계곡)

Chungcheongnamdo 116 Surak-ri, Beolgok-myeon, Nonsan-si, Chungcheongnam-do Surakgyegok Valley is a valley located in the northern part of Daedunsan Provincial Park. Enveloped by forests and flowing streams, it offers opportunities for forest bathing, and its moderate temperatures even in the summer make it suitable for leisure activities. Throughout the valley, visitors can find waterfalls such as Surakpokpo Falls and Seonnyeopokpo Falls. A notable feature of this area is the steep iron staircase nestled between cliffs, leading from the valley to the summit of Daedunsan Mountain, which is a highlight of the area.

Sono Belle Cheonan Ocean Adventure (소노벨 천안 오션어드벤처)

Chungcheongnamdo 200 Jonghaphyuyangji-ro, Seongnam-myeon, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do Sono Belle Cheonan Ocean Adventure is an expansive water park attached to the Sono Belle Cheonan resort. Inspired by renowned historical sites found in Rome, Venice, and Spain, the park delivers a unique thematic experience. The facility is divided into three main areas: the indoor zone, the outdoor zone, and the hot springs section, providing entertainment and relaxation for all seasons. Guests can enjoy a variety of thrilling rides, including the Tornado Pool, Speed Racing, Body Bowl Slide, Wild Extreme River, and the Viking Tower.

Sunshine Studio (논산 선샤인스튜디오)

Chungcheongnamdo 90 Bonghwang-ro, Yeonmu-eup, Nonsan-si, Chungcheongnam-do Originally established as the set for the drama "Mr. Sunshine", it has since garnered interest as a filming location for historical dramas such as "Pachinko" and "Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938". It is currently open to the public as a tourist attraction. Strolling through Sunshine Studio in costumes of the era, one feels as if they've stepped into the bustling Hanseong of the 1900s.

Sunshine Land (선샤인랜드)

Chungcheongnamdo 102 Bonghwang-ro, Yeonmu-eup, Nonsan-si, Chungcheongnam-do Sunshine Land is a cultural complex located in Nonsan, Chungcheongnam-do. One can experience and observe diverse content at this themed attraction, which is divided into four sections: Survival Experience Center, Military Experience Center, Sunshine Studio, and 1950 Studio. The Survival Experience Center and Military Experience Center incorporate VR technology for an interactive and realistic entertainment. The Sunshine Studo and 1950 Studio are decorated in the theme of the aftermath of the Korean War, allowing one to get a glimpse and knowledge of what life in Korea was like after the war.

Sudeoksa Temple (수덕사)

Chungcheongnamdo 79, Sudeoksaan-gil, Yesan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Sudeoksa Temple, which has played an important role in the history of Korea’s Buddhism, is located at the foot of Deoksungsan Mountain. It was one of twelve temples from the Baekje Kingdom mentioned in Chinese historical records. There is no historical record of when the temple was founded but researchers believe it was founded sometime during the reign of King Wuideok (554-597). The main building of Sudeoksa Temple, Daeungjeon Hall, was constructed in 1308 during the Goryeo dynasty. It was repaired four times between 1528 and 1803, but fortunately kept its original beauty. In addition to Daeungjeon Hall, Sudeoksa Temple houses many cultural treasures, such as the Three-story Stone Pagoda of Sudeoksa Temple.
