Chungcheongbukdo 1170, Chungjuhosu-ro, Chungju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do Gyemyeongsan Recreational Forest is located on Gyemyeongsan Mountain, part of the Sobaeksan Mountain Range, and has outstanding views of Chungjugho Lake. Although the park is small in size, the recreational forest provides a peaceful and relaxing getaway with lush pine tree forest along with diverse animals and plants. The trees are great for forest bathing, and are beautiful in autumn when the leaves turn crimson. <BR>Nearby attractions include Suanbo Hot Springs, Songnisan Mountain, Eight Sights of Danyang, and Chungjuho Lake. Goesan Historic House of Song Byeong-il (괴산 송병일 고택)

Godowon Healing Center (깊은산속 옹달샘)

Gujeolsa Temple (구절사)

Chungcheongbukdo 226, Sangjung-gil, Gunseo-myeon, Okcheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do Gujeolsa Temple is a Buddhist temple located deep within the Sikjangsan Mountain in Okcheon. It was founded in 1393 and was rebuilt in 1933 to its present appearance. The road from the radio tower fork to Gujeolsa Temple in Sikjangsan Mountain’s hiking trails is lush with acacia trees, which are in full bloom in May. Another sight that should not be missed is the fog shrouding the foot of the mountain in spring and fall.

Gudambong Peak & Oksunbong Peak (구담봉 & 옥순봉)

Chungcheongbukdo Janghoe-ri, Danseong-myeon, Danyang-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do Gudambong Peak and Oksunbong Peak (alt. 372m) are widely known as two of the “Eight Scenic Views of Danyang." Gudambong Peak (lit. Turtle Pond Peak) gets its name from the reflection of its rugged cliffs on the lake below, which is said to look like a turtle. Oksunbong Peak (lit. Bamboo Shoot Peak), well known for its magnificent scenery, was so named because its white and mossy rocks stand high like fresh bamboo shoots. The historic book Yeojiseungnam (Geographical Survey of Korea) describes how Kim Il-son, a civil officer in the Joseon Dynasty, greatly extolled the beauty of its marvelous ravines. Both Gudambong Peak and Oksunbong Peak offer spectacular views of Chungjuho Lake and Geumsusan Mountain.

Geumsusan Mountain (금수산)

Chungcheongbukdo 210, Sanghak 1-gil, Danyang-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do Geumsusan Mountain, originally called Baegamsan Mountain, was renamed by noted Joseon-period scholar Yi Hwang (pen name Toegye) when he was the chief governor of Danyang County, saying its graceful features matched the fineness of silk embroidery. The mountain is beautiful throughout the year with bright foliage in fall and an ice cave that stays frozen until early April. The view from the summit of the mountain resembles a pregnant woman lying on her side, and there is a legend that women who pray for a son here will have their wish come true.

Geumgang Resort (금강유원지)

Gamgok Maegoe Virgin Mary Catholic Cathedral (감곡매괴성모순례지성당)

Chungcheongbukdo 10, Seongdang-gil, Eumseong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do Gamgok Cathedral was founded in 1896 by Father Camillus Bouillon, who came to Korea from France directly after gaining his priesthood. The church was dedicated to the Virgin Mary due to the priest's prayers to the Blessed Mother to provide the land for the church. The church has a long history spanning over 100 years. It was reportedly used as a shelter for local citizens from North Korean soldiers returning north during the end of the Korean War. The current structure was built in 1930, designed after the Myeong-dong Cathedral in Seoul. Also on the church grounds is Maegoe Museum, originally the house of Father Bouillon, which is now converted into a museum showing the history of this small, yet important Cathedral.

Gallongyegok Valley (갈론계곡)

Earthen Fortification in Jeongbuk-dong (청주 정북동 토성)

Chungcheongbukdo 353-2 Jeongbuk-dong, Cheongwon-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do The Earthen Fortification in Jeongbuk-dong was built around the third century BC on a flat land next to the Mihogang River. Its original square shape, with a perimeter of 650 meters, remains well-preserved, featuring gate remnants on the east, west, south, and north sides. The south and north gates include offset walls, designed to prevent enemies from entering directly. The protruding sections at the four corners and midpoints of the walls were strategically built for attacking and monitoring enemies from the sides.

Dongbu Warehouse (동부창고)

Chungcheongbukdo 314, Sangdang-ro, Cheongwon-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do Dongbu Warehouse, once a tobacco leaf warehouse of an old tobacco manufacturing factory, was recreated as a cultural and art space through the cultural regeneration project by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It currently maintains the original form of the factory warehouse and has great preservation value as a modern cultural heritage built with red bricks and wooden truss. This attractive cultural space, which contains the modern and contemporary looks of the 1900s, provides various programs such as planned performances and festivals, as well as a space rental.

Domaryeong Pass (도마령)

Chungcheongbukdo Jodong-ri, Yonghwa-myeon, Yeongdong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do Domaryeong Pass is an 800 m-long pass at the foot of Minjujisan Mountain, connecting the Hwanggang-myeon area of Yeongdong-gun with Muju. The name of the pass, "Doma," refers to how a general with a sword (do) had crossed over the pass on a horse (ma) in the past. This curving road is quite famous as a destination for drives. One can get a bird’s-eye view of the pass and the curving road from the Sangyongjeong Pavilion at the top of the pass.
