Gangwondo Byeongsan-dong, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do Solbaram Bridge, completed in 2010, is a 197-meter-long pedestrian and bike bridge with great views. It was named after the pine trees of Gangneung (sol) and the wind (baram) due to its windy nature. Connecting the river with the sea, the bridge offers beautiful night views and refreshing sea breezes, making it a popular place for dates as well as family vacations. To the north across the bridge, visitors can find the Gangneunghang Port Yacht Marina and the Gangneung Coffee Street.

Sokcho Lighthouse Observatory (속초등대전망대)

Gangwondo 8-28 Yeonggeumjeong-ro 5-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do It is No. 1 of Sokcho’s Eight Sights. This white lighthouse creates a picturesque view along with the surrounding blue sea. Sokcho Lighthouse Observatory was originally just a lighthouse, but now, it is opened to the public and plays a role of an observatory. Walking up along the wooden deck trail among the bamboo grove leads you to the observatory, which offers an open view of the deep blue East Sea, the Cheongchoho Lake, which is home to migratory birds, and the magnificent scenery of Seoraksan Mountain. Viewed from the high tower, the East Sea unfolds its boundless ocean and sometimes it looks like a calm lake but can become an energetic ocean full of vitality. Built in 1957, Sokcho Lighthouse still lights up for ships at night. The bright light and sound of the beacon, which has been in service since the lighthouse’s establishment, can show the waterway to a boat, which is about 35 km away from the lighthouse. Right next to the observatory, Yeonggeumjeong Pavilion is situated.

Sokcho Eye (속초해수욕장 대관람차(속초아이))

Gangwondo 2 Cheonghohaean-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do Located at Sokcho Beach, Sokcho Eye is a towering Ferris wheel standing approximately 65 meters tall, offering panoramic views of the blue sea, Seoraksan Mountain, and the city of Sokcho. Featuring 36 cabins, its charming, submarine-inspired circular design is truly eye-catching. Constructed entirely with transparent acrylic walls, it provides an unobstructed 360-degree view, ensuring a memorable experience from every angle.

Sokcho Expo Tower (속초 엑스포타워)

Gangwondo 72, Expo-ro, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do Sokcho Expo Tower in the area of Cheongchoho Lake, Joyang-dong, is an observatory tower set in a park surrounded by mountains and lakes. The tower is 73.4m in x_height and can accommodate up to 100 visitors at once. From the observation platform, visitors can enjoy a complete view of the Sokcho area, including Ulsanbawi Rock and Daecheongbong Peak in Seoraksan Mountain, the East Sea and downtown Sokcho. The view around sunset is especially picturesque and the migratory bird habitat of Cheongchoho Lake is also located near the tower.

Sokcho Beach (속초해수욕장)

Gangwondo 190 Haeoreum-ro, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do Sokcho Beach opened in 1976 and is one of Korea's representative beaches. It is close to Sokcho's downtown, and the express bus terminal is also within walking distance, so transportation is convenient. With clear sea water, shallow depth, and a gentle slope, Sokcho Beach attracts visitors from all over the country every summer. Especially during the high season in July and August, the beach is so cluttered that there's nowhere to walk. There are many restaurants and facilities near the beach. And there is a pine forest with a small park and a trail behind the beach. The sculptures installed throughout the sandy beach are a sight to see regardless of the season, so tourists continue to visit even after the holiday season. There are sculptures including the Korean initials "ㅅㅊ" symbolizing Sokcho, a large compass showing directions to countries around the world, and a dolphin sculpture. The large picture frame with the blue sea in the background and the Stairway to Heaven are the most popular photo spots here. The beach often serves as a venue for a variety of events like performances and festivals.

Sokch Seorak Sunrise Park (속초 설악해맞이공원)

Gangwondo 3664 Donghae-daero, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do Referred to as "Namulchi," Sokcho Seorak Sunrise Park is located in the area of National Highway 7, the main point toward Daepohang Port, Yangyang, and Seoraksan Mountain. The park is perfect for enjoying a sunrise trip. The park area includes Sunrise Plaza, Lover’s Road, Happy Road, Love Road, other various themed sculptures, symbolic sculptures of Seoraksan Mountain, and light fountains, making it a great place to take a walk.

Sogeumsan Mountain Grand Valley (소금산그랜드밸리)

Gangwondo 317 Jijeong-ro, Jijeong-myeon, Wonju-si, Gangwon-do Home to beautiful rivers, majestic cliffs, and stunning old trees, Sogeum Mountain Grand Valley offers an impressive view. The valley encompasses the trekking trail in the Ganhyeon Tourist Area, the 200-meter-long Sogeumsan Mountain Suspension Bridge, and the 404-meter-long Wonju Ulleong Bridge. The valley also features a thrilling 360-meter-long "Cliff Walk," a cliff road hanging 200 meters above ground that connects the two pedestrian suspension bridges. With the addition of a mountain escalator in 2024 and cable cars in 2025, Sogeumsan Mountain Grand Valley has become more accessible and entertaning as ever.

Sogeumganggyegok Valley (오대산 소금강계곡)

Gangwondo Sogeumgang-gil, Yeongok-myeon, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do Sogeumganggyegok Valley is located on the east side of Odaesan Mountain. The valley is also referred to as Cheonghak Dongsogeum because the scenery resembles a crane (cheonghak) spreading its wings. The rock formations standing in between the lush valley forests will draw the eyes of any visitor. Several attractions are found along the valley path such as Mureunggyegok Valley, Myeonggyeongdae Post, Guryongpokpo Falls, Gunjapokpo Falls, and more.

Statue of Soyanggang Maid (소양강처녀상)

Gangwondo 2675, Yeongseo-ro, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do This Soyanggang Maiden Statue stands high between Soyanggang Skywalk and Soyang i(2)gyo Bridge. This statue, representing Korea’s popular song Soyanggang Cheonyeo (maiden), is 12 m high in total, combining 5 m-high base stone and 7 m-high body. If you see it close to, the statue looks very big. The statue depicts a maiden who holds her skirt hem with one hand and reed with the other, and her breast-knot flapping in the wind. The base stone has the inscription of lyrics. The lyrics belong to the song Soyanggang Cheonyeo composed by Ban Ya-wol, who left hit songs, such as Crossing the Teary Pass of Bakdaljae, and Brokenhearted Miari Ridge.

Sogeumgang River [National Geopark] (소금강 (강원고생대 국가지질공원))

Gangwondo San 109-1. Morun-ri, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do Sogeumgang River is lined with high rock cliffs topped with lush forests. This section of river is so beautiful, it is called "Little Geumgangsan River," with Geumgangsan Mountain being known as the most breathtaking location in all of Korea. Visitors can find a number of famous rocks along the river.

Sodol Adeul Rock Park (소돌아들바위공원)

Gangwondo Jumun-ri, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do Follow the coastal road north of Gangneung to reach the white lighthouse at the end of the hill in Jumunjin. Beyond the lighthouse is Sodol Adeul Rock Park, boasting beautiful and unique rock formations sculpted by wind and waves. The first thing that greets the visitors as they approach from the road is a sharp and angular black rock formation that resembles a bull, followed by other rocks that take on the shape of elephants and many other shapes. Sodolbawi Rock was originally underwater before rising to the surface due to tectonic movements during the Jurassic Period 150 million years ago. It is home to a legend where an old couple prayed for 100 days to conceive a son, and thus a famous spot visited by many newlyweds.

Sinheungsa Temple (Seoraksan Mountain) (신흥사(설악산))

Gangwondo 1137 Seoraksan-ro, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do Sinheungsa Temple is a temple located in Seoraksan Mountain near Sokcho. It belongs to the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. It was originally founded as Hyangseongsa Temple by the monk Jajang in the Shilla dynasty (A.D. 652). Within the temple grounds, cultural heritage sites such as Geungnakbojeon Hall, a wooden structure from the mid-Joseon period, and the Three-story Stone Pagoda at Hyangseongsa Temple Site. The temple offers a templestay program where visitors can experience temple life firsthand. Participants can engage in various activities such as Buddhist ceremonies, Buddhist prayer, 108 prostrations, and lotus lantern and rosary making.

Simwonsa Temple (심원사(철원))

Gangwondo 58 Sangno 1-gil, Dongsong-eup, Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon-do This thousand-year-old temple is revered as a sanctuary dedicated to the living Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. The temple complex comprises various buildings, including Daeungjeon Hall, Myeongbujeon Hall, and Samseonggak Hall. Myeongbujeon Hall is particularly notable as it enshrines the statue of Ksitigarbha, which has been designated a Treasure of Korea. It is believed that if one prays earnestly, a single wish will be granted. This belief continues to draw Buddhists on pilgrimages, eager to experience the spiritual wonder of this revered sculpture.

Sibiseonnyeotang (Tangsudonggyegok Valley) (십이선녀탕(탕수동계곡))

Gangwondo Sibiseonnyeotang-gil, Inje-gun, Gangwon-do Sibiseonnyeotang Valley (Valley of the Twelve Angels’ Bath) is a beautiful valley filled with water flowing through a cascade of waterfalls and pools. In the past, there were 12 of each, although the size and shape has changed over time. The valley also features many uniquely shaped rocks and a forest comprised of many types of trees, including maple, pine nut, and pine trees. The path passing through the V-shaped valley crosses the stream often, so visiting after heavy rainfall is not recommended.

Seungni Observatory (승리전망대)

Gangwondo Gwangsam-ri, Geundong-myeon, Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon-do Seungni Observatory is the nearest to North Korea that is accessible to civilian visitors. It offers an expansive view of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and the areas of North Korea beyond it. Inside the observatory, there is an exhibition hall dedicated to the DMZ and North Korea. Located within the Civilian Control Zone (CCZ), the observatory strictly prohibits photography outside of designated areas. All visitors are required to always carry personal identification.

Seungilgyo Bridge (승일교)

Gangwondo Area of Naedae-ri, Galmal-eup, Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon-do Seungilgyo Bridge is unique in that it was jointly built by South and North Korea. The construction began when the land belonged to North Korea, but after the Armstice Agreement the land was given to the South, who then complete the bridge. The bridge was designated as a Registerd Cultural Property No. 26 on May 31, 2002.
