2025.10.18　 Chungcheongnamdo　

Chungcheongnamdo 400 Kkotjihaean-ro, Anmyeon-eup, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Korea Flower Park is located in Taean near Kkotji Beach, a famous sunset location. The park is beautiful with different flowers in bloom from spring to fall. The garden also hosts various flower festivals throughout the year to highlight the flowers in bloom.

Kohwun Garden (고운식물원)

Chungcheongnamdo 398-23, Singmurwon-gil, Cheongyang-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Kohwun Garden opened on April 28, 2003, following the collection, planting, and cultivation of a wide range of plants and trees over a twelve-year period. The garden is about 200,000 ㎡, and the half of the area is used for educational purposes for both professionals and non-professionals alike. It is home to at least 15 rare or endangered plant species including Miseonnamu (Abeliophyllum distichum Nakai) and Euryale ferox Salisbury, in addition to nearly 4,500 species of plant genetic resources.

Kkotji Beach (꽃지해수욕장)

Chungcheongnamdo Seungeon-ri, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Kkotji Beach, located in beautiful Anmyeon, features a 5 kilometer stretch of white sand, and attractions like Halbaebawi and Halmaebawi Rocks (Grandpa & Grandma Rocks). Halmaebawi Rock is said to have once been a real woman, Mido, who lived during the Silla period. Her husband was sent on business and never returned. Mido sat by the ocean every day waiting for his return, eventually turning into a stone. Further out to sea, there is a large rock, which naturally earned the nickname of Halbaebawi. Many visitors come to Kkotji Beach all year round to enjoy the beautiful view, and take walks along the beach. The sunset scenery has also become a favorite for photographers.

Kkotgedari Ocean Bridge (꽃게다리)

Chungcheongnamdo Changgi-ri, Anmyeon-eup, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Inspired by the blue crab, the Kkotgedari Ocean Bridge links Taean's Deureuni Port with Anmyeondo Island's Baeksajang Port. The bridge is decorated with sculptures of blue crab and shrimp,highlighting the region's most significant seafood. It provides spectacular views of the Yellow Sea and sunsets. At night, the bridge is lit up with stunning lights. Nearby, a market offers the opportunity to browse, buy, and taste seafood freshly caught from the Yellow Sea.

JFK Daecheon Waterpark (JFK 대천 워터파크)

Chungcheongnamdo 876 Daehae-ro, Boryeong-si, Chungcheongnam-do JFK Daecheon Waterpark Hotel is a summer-only waterpark located at Hotel Master Daecheon. Indoors, it features a spa, a kiddy pool, and a sauna zone. Outdoors, visitors can enjoy active water sports including a 100m slide, curved slides, a lazy river pool, and a wave pool. The waterpark also offers convenient facilities such as restaurants and cafés.

Jeongnimsa Temple Site & Sabi-gil (정림사지와 사비길)

Chungcheongnamdo 83 Jeongnim-ro, Buyeo-eup, Buyeo-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Jeongnimsa Temple Site, located in the city center of Baekje, the capital during the Sabi dynasty, is a representative Buddhist site of Baekje. Even after the fall of Baekje, the Five-story Stone Pagoda of Jeonnimsa Temple Site still stands tall today, revealing the historical significance of Baekje. Sabi-gil, an eco-friendly walking trail, takes visitors around many popular attractions from the Baekje era, allowing a glimpse into the history and culture of Baekje.

Jeongancheon Eco Park (정안천생태공원)

Chungcheongnamdo 257 Uidang-ro, Uidang-myeon, Gongju-si, Chungcheongnam-do Jeongancheon Eco Park, located along the Jeongancheon Stream, has well-maintained bike paths and walking trails offering beautiful scenery. The park features a variety of flowers and plants throughout the seasons. Most stunning of all are the tulips and flower lawns in full bloom in spring and the fragrant pink and white lotuses in summer. The 500-meter-long walkway lined with metasequoia trees is beautiful throughout the year and is a popular photo spot in Gongju.

Jeokbyeokgang River (적벽강)

Chungcheongnamdo 697, Jeokbyeokgang-ro, Geumsan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do The primary source of the Geumgang River is a spring located on Ddeunbong Peak in Subun-ri, Jangsu-gun, Jeollabuk-do, which flows to the north. At Changnam, it changes direction and enters Bangu-ri, Buri-myeon, Geumsan-gun. From here, the river flows through steep mountains. At Sutong-ri, the precipitous cliffs of a mountain named Jeokbyeok tower proudly above, and where the river runs under these steep cliffs it is called the Jeokbyeokgang River. Jeokbyeok literally means "red walls" in Korean. The Geumgang River under Jeokbyeok is as calm as a peaceful lake with long sandy shores. This riverbank is alive with beautiful flowers in spring, green pine trees in summer, and in fall, the green gives way to an autumnal tint, until lovely snowscapes blanket the area in winter.

Hapdeokje Reservoir (합덕제)

Chungcheongnamdo 395 Hapdeok-ri, Hapdeok-eup, Dangjin-si, Chungcheongnam-do Hapdeokje is a reservoir located in Dangjin, Chungcheongnam-do. Designated as a Chungcheongnam-do Monument in 1989, it is known to have been built in the late Unified Silla period for the irrigation of Yedang Plain (Sodeulgangmun Gate). It attracts many tourists in spring with cherry blossoms and canola flower blossoms and in summer with lotus flowers in full bloom. The Hapdeokje Ecotourism Experience Center (opened in 2021) and Hapdeok Folk Irrigation Museum are located nearby, so you can stop by when traveling in the area.

Gongju Donghaksa Temple (동학사(공주))

Chungcheongnamdo 462, Donghaksa 1-ro, Gongju-si, Chungcheongnam-do Located in the east valley of Gyeryongsan Mountain in Hakbong-ri, Banpo-myeon, Gongju, Donghaksa Temple is the first and the oldest existing academic institute for female monks. Home to about 150 monks who study and practice Buddhism, the temple is the most visited spot on all of Gyerongsan Mountain due to its history, convenient location, and visitor facilities. The elegant structure of the temple is x_heighted by the majestic view of Munpilbong Peak to its front. In the spring, many visitors come to the temple to see the cherry blossom tunnel, a 3 kilometer pathway from Bakjeongja three-way intersection to Donghaksa Temple. Every year since 1993 the temple has also been the venue of the Donghaksa Spring Flower Festival.

Nanjiseom Beach (난지섬해수욕장)

Chungcheongnamdo 67, Nanji 1-gil, Dangjin-si, Chungcheongnam-do Nanjiseom Beach on Nanjiseom Island in Dangjin, Chungcheongnam-do features soft white sand over a 700 meter-long, 50 meter-wide area. The water is shallow, clean and relatively warm, and a pine grove surrounds the beach. Nanjiseom Beach offers various convenience facilities such as campsites, showers, drinking fountains and bathrooms. The rocky coast in the northwest is a great spot for catching fish, such as rock cod and spotty belly greenling. By taking a boat, visitors can enjoy scenic ocean views as they pass beautiful islands, such as Yeongheungdo, Palmido, Seonjaedo, Gukhwado, Yukdo and Pungdo.

Onyang Hot Springs (온양온천지구)

Chungcheongnamdo 1459 Oncheon-daero, Asan-si, Chungcheongnam-do Onyang Hot Springs is the oldest hot springs complex in Korea, a place where the kings of Joseon (1392-1897) recuperated and bathed, thanks to its proximity to Seoul. In the 1970s and 1980s, it was a popular honeymoon destination. The water here has a temperature of about 44-60℃ and contains substances that are beneficial for the human body. The area boasts a large number of hotels and water parks.

Ongmasan Mountain (옥마산)

Chungcheongnamdo 300 Changdong 1-gil, Nampo-myeon, Boryeong-si, Chungcheongnam-do Ongmasan Mountain is located in the southern part of Boryeong with its highest point reaching 601 meters above sea level. Although the mountain encompasses the areas of Myeongcheon-dong and Nampo-myeon, it can easily be identified due to the transmission tower installed at the peak. The mountain's name is said to have derived from the legend of the last king of the Silla period and his horse that was hit with a jade arrow. The mountain has a paragliding center and a pine forest with rest spots. At the northern section of the summit, there is a pavilion that offers an excellent vista and Daeyeongsa Temple, renowned for its beautiful cherry blossoms in spring. Ongmasan Mountain can be reached by taking the National Roads 21 and 40, and other regional highways as well as expressways. Nearby attractions include Boryeong Mugunghwa Arboretum, Seongjusan Mountain, Seongjusan Recreational Forest, Boryeong Coal Museum, and Gaehwa Herb Land.

Nami Recreational Forest (남이자연휴양림)

Chungcheongnamdo 200, Neutigol-gil, Geumsan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Nami Recreational Forest is the perfect place for leisure activities and family outings. The forest boasts a picture-perfect view of thick, green forests of broadleaf trees, crystal clear water, curiously shaped rocks, and waterfalls. The cliffs and rocks of Daedunsan Mountain are visible from the summit of Seonyabong Peak. Near the forest are diverse cultural heritage sites such as Baengnyeong Holy Ground and Yukbaekgoji Victory Tower. Nami Recreational Forest provides visitors with a unique combination of cultural sites and natural beauty, making it a popular destination among visitors.

Namdang Port (남당항)

Chungcheongnamdo Namdang-ri, Hongseong-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Namdang Port is a representative port on the West Coast. Known for having plenty of prawn, cockle, flat fish, rock fish and other types of seafood, the port draws visitors all year round. Cockles in particular are a local delicacy, usually enjoyed as cockle shabu shabu or charcoal-grilled cockle. A nearby attraction to visit is the bamboo grove of Jukdo Island

Oeyeondo Island (외연도)

Chungcheongnamdo 64, Oeyeondo 1-gil, Boryeong-si, Chungcheongnam-do Oeyeondo Island's name carries the meaning of being a far-distant island hidden in fog. The island is 53 kilometers off the mainland coast and can only be reached by taking a two-and-a-half-hour boat ride from Daecheonhang Port. The history of the island's inhabitation dates back to 202 BC when a Chinese General named Jeonhoeng settled here with about 500 followers after fleeing his failing Je Kingdom. Every year the villagers have a ceremony to commemorate the General, and even pray to him for strength during childbirth. The evergreen forest located behind the main village is designated Natural Monument No. 136, and is comprised of many tree species. The most famous attraction in the forest is called the Love Trees, two camellia trees that have grown entwined. The locals believe if a young couple passes between the two tree trunks, they will have eternal love. Another must-see attraction on Oeyeondo Island is the sun setting over the horizon. The scene is so beautiful, it has been classified as one of the Eight Scenic Views of Boryeong.
