Naewonsa Temple (Yangsan) (내원사(양산))

Naejangsan Sculpture Park (내장산조각공원)

Munui Cultural Properties Site (문의문화재단지)
Chungcheongbukdo 721, Daecheonghoban-ro, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do Munui Cultural Properties Site, overlooking the Daecheongho Lake, attracts many visitors. Thesite was created to preserve and promote the local traditional culture of Cheongwon (Chungcheongbuk-do); it is a great place to learn about local history, culture, and arts. The spacious complex (132,232m²) is a hometoten traditional houses (Munsangwan, aristocrat houses, a museum, and a tavern), showing a form of a traditional village. It is also full of dolmen stones (symbolizing abundant procreation), Jangseung (totem poles at the entrance of villages or temples), and Yeonjabanga (millstones worked by horses or oxen), providing visitors with opportunities to learn about traditional culture and life. Witha theme of roof tiles, a relics gallery in the complex boasts over 774 local items, categorized byhistorical period (e.g. the Silla Period, Baekje Period, etc.). Munsan-ri Stone Bridge, believed to have been built during the Goryeo Period, was restored in front of the gallery. The complex also offers a wide array of amenities including mineral spring sites, playgrounds, and Munui Movie Village (a drive-in movie theatert). Nearby notable attractions include artificial falls, Yangseongsan Mountain, Jakdusan Mountain, Daecheongho Lake, Nosan Pine Forest, Donghwasa Temple, and Bugang Mineral Springs.

Munmyo Confucian Shrine and Seonggyungwan National Academy (…
Seoul 31, Seonggyungwan-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul Munmyo is a shrine dedicated to Confucius, whose teachings form the foundation of Confucianism. It is also dedicated to his disciples and other great Confucian scholars. Munmyo is not only the shrine but also the highest educational institution of the Joseon dynasty. Munmyo was once called as Munseonwangmyo since during the Tang dynasty, Confucius was named as King Munseon after his death and then it has been called as Munmyo since the Yuan dynasty. The compound consists of two main areas: the Daeseongjeon houses shrines and the Myeongnyundang features seminar halls and other auxiliary facilities. Also, there are two dormitories, Dongjae and Seojae, which are collectively known as Sungkyunkwan. In front of the Myeongnyundang stands a ginkgo tree designated as Natural Monument No. 59. In spring and autumn, a ritual for Confucius and his disciples takes place.

Munheonseowon Confucian Academy (문헌서원)
Chungcheongnamdo 66 Seowon-ro 172beon-gil, Gisan-myeon, Seocheon-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Munheonseowon Confucian Academy was established to pay tribute to the memory of Lee Gok (1298-1351) and Lee Saek (1328-1396) who were well-respected for their writings and character. The school was originally built in 1594, but was burnt down during the Imjin War (1592-1598). It was rebuilt in 1610 and became a legislated private institute in 1611. The academy consists of an educational area and a shrine. Mortuary tablets of five Confucian scholars including Lee Jong-hak, Lee Ja, Lee Gae as well as Lee Gok and Lee Saek were enshrined at the school.

Munhak Rose Park (장미공원)
Incheon 인천 연수구 연수동 137-40 Munhak Rose Park is situated at the base of Munhaksan Mountain. The park features a central rose garden boasting over 40 varieties of roses, alongside a pond, a lawn area, and multi-purpose sports facilities. It includes several photo zones, such as a rose-adorned staircase with trick art, a porch evoking a European garden, and an arched bench embellished with roses. The roses are in full bloom during May and June.

Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park (문경새재도립공원)
Gyeongsangbukdo 932, Saejae-ro, Mungyeong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do Mungyeongsaejae Pass, which crosses Joryeongsan Mountain, has always been the highest and most dangerous mountain pass in Korea, being reputed to be too tall for even birds to fly over. The three gates of Juheulgwan, Jogokgwan, and Joryeonggwan were built for national defense after the Imjin War (1592-1598). These three gates are designated collectively as Historic Site No. 147. The area between the three gates was designated a provincial park in 1981. The path from the first gate to the last passes through beautiful forests and takes roughly four hours round-trip. Also located within the park boundaries is Mungyeongsaejae Open Set, used for filming historical dramas.

Gyeongsangbukdo 932 Saejae-ro, Mungyeong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do This open set is a filming location for popular historical dramas such as "Kingdom (2019)," "The Red Sleeve (2021)," and "The Moon Embracing the Sun (2012)," and is connected to Mungyeong Provincial Park. One of the most famous spots is the Gwanghwamun Set, which vividly embodies Gwanghwamun Gate. The set has various settings such as a hanok village, downtown area, and a common people's village, spread over a large site, making visitors feel as if they have traveled back in time to the Joseon dynasty.

Mungyeongsaejae Open Set (문경새재 오픈세트장)
Gyeongsangbukdo 932, Saejae-ro, Mungyeong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do Mungyeongsaejae Open Set has been used for a variety of historical publications, including “Taejo Wang Geon (2000),” “Dae Jo Yeong (2006),” “Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010),” “Moon Embracing the Sun (2012),” “Jeon Woo-chi (2012),” and “Masquerade (2012).” In 2008, the Goryeo Dynasty set was dismantled and redesigned into a Joseon-era set. Visitors can get a glimpse of life in the past through the replica houses and various structures throughout the open set.

Mungyeong Spa (문경종합온천)
Gyeongsangbukdo 24, Oncheon 2-gil, Mungyeong-eup, Mungyeong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do Mungyeong Spa is an enormous hot springs complex that first opened in March 2001 and is able to accommodate up to 2,500 visitors at one time, as well as up to 1,000 vehicles in the spacious parking lot. It offers two types of hot springs water. The yellow earth-colored hot springs water comes from 900 meters underground and the other hot springs water comes from 750 meters below the ground.

Mungyeong Seonyudonggyegok Valley (선유동계곡(문경))
Gyeongsangbukdo Wanjang-ri, Mungyeong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do Seonyudonggyegok Valley in Mungyeong is longer and more beautiful than the valley of the same name in Goesan. Daeyasan Mountain (931 meters) runs across both valleys, which are 10 kilometers apart from each other. The valley is relatively untouched as it is not yet well known to the public. At the beginning and the end of the trail are Hakcheonjeong and Chirujeong Pavilions, respectively. Both sides of the valley are lined with thick forests of ancient pine trees. A number of stone carvings can be found in the forest, and the most famous one reads “Seonyugyegok.” It was written by Choi Chi-won, a leading scholar of the Silla kingdom.
