Modo Island (모도)
Jeollanamdo 12-3, Modo-gil, Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do In 1929, Modo Island was spotted by Kim Hae-gim on his way to Jeju Island. He called the island Ttiseom because of the multitude of ttipul grass, a grass native to Korea, on the island. There were also many houses with thatched roofs made with dried ttipul on the island. The name Modo Island comes from the Hanja characters for "Ttiseom."

Manyeonsa Temple - Hwasun (만연사(화순))
Jeollanamdo 367, Jingak-ro, Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do Manyeonsa Temple is known to have been built in 1208, the fourth year of King Heejong’s (r. 1204-1211) reign during the Goryeo dynasty. It is said that Manyeonsa Temple was constructed by Great Monk Manyeon after he dreamt of 16 nahans, Buddha’s disciples, preparing to build a temple to preserve Buddha’s statue when taking a short nap during his journey back to Songwangsa Temple in Jogyesan Mountain from Wonhyosa Temple in Mudeungsan Mountain. When he awoke from his nap, he noticed that snow had completely covered his nearby surroundings except for the exact spot where he lied down, which remained so warm that snow had melted and steam was rising from the ground. He then settled in the area by building a dugout where he continued to practice asceticism and later built Manyeonsa Temple. The temple was partially destroyed during the Korean War (1950) and restoration efforts were made in 1978.

Jjangttungeo (Mudskipper) Bridge (짱뚱어다리)
Jeollanamdo Daecho-ri, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do Featuring natural areas untouched by human hands, Jeungdo Island in Sinan-gun was the first Slow City designated in Asia as of December 1, 2007. The trademark image of the island is Jjangttungeo Bridge, a 470-meter-long wooden bridge built above the mud flat. The bridge allows visitors to observe mud creatures all without stepping foot in the mud. The jjangttungeo (mudskipper) is only able to live in clean mud flats and they are easily found in this island. The name of the bridge comes from the image of many mudskippers jumping around the bridge. During low tide, the vast mud flat appears, as well as various mud organisms including mudskippers, crabs, clams and lug worms. When the tide is high, crossing this bridge will give the feeling of walking on water. The sight seen from the bridge is perfect for a date course, and the bridge leads to Ujeong Beach, which offers a beautiful view of the setting sun.
