Seoul 343 Seonyu-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul Seonyudo Park is Korea's first water-themed ecological park. The park was renewed from an old water treatment plant. Visitors can observe a water purification system, an aquatic plant garden, and an ecological forest, as well as exhibitions and other interesting facilities. The park also hosts diverse hands-on programs and exhibitions.

Seongsu-dong Handmade Shoes Street (성수동 수제화거리)

Seoul 15, Yeonmujang 7-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul Handmade shoe manufacturers began to gather in the 1970s to form a street and make history. Today, there are some 350 handmade shoe manufacturers, 100 intermediate processing and raw materials companies, and new cafes with unique vibes opening up one after another. Thanks to its vintage appeal, many people visit on dates and to take cool photos.

Seongsu-dong Cafe Street (성수동 카페거리)

Seoul Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul Yeonmujang-gil in Seongsu-dong, known for old factories and a shoe workshop street, has been reborn as a place of trendy cafes and culture. The energy of car repair shops, printing factories, and handmade shoes street still exist today but, as global restaurant brands, select shops, and cafes have set up amidst busily operating factories, an atmosphere unique to Seongsu-dong has been created. "Daerim Warehouse" led to the change in the Seongsu-dong streets and can be said to be the originator of all warehouse-style cafes that are popular throughout Cafe Street today. The red-brick structure, antique signboards, and a vast indoor space of an old warehouse have been maintained and, with the addition of a sensuous interior design, it has become a space suitable for fashion shows and exhibits, thus showing new potential for old Seongsu-dong architecture. Every day, new cafes, bakeries, restaurants, and cultural complexes open their doors and are busy welcoming visitors.

Seongbuk-dong–Bukchon Hanok Village Course (성북동고택북촌산책길)

Mr. Park's house was a filming set, which was demolished after filming.

Seolleung and Jeongneung Royal Tombs [UNESCO World Heritage]…

Seoul 1 Seolleung-ro 100-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul Seolleung and Jeongneung Royal Tombs are located near COEX in Gangnam. It comprises two tombs: Seolleung Royal Tomb, which houses the remains of King Seongjong (1457-1495, r. 1470-1495) and his wife Queen Jeonghyeon (1462-1530) of the Joseon dynasty (1392-1897), and Jeongneung Royal Tomb, which houses King Jungjong (1488-1544, r. 1506-1544), Seongjong’s son. The Seolleung and Jeongneung Royal Tombs History Center details the historical significance of the tomb, while the complex also serves as a park within the city.

Seodaemun Independence Park (서대문독립공원)

Seoul 251, Tongil-ro, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul Seodaemun Independence Park was built on the former Seoul Detention Camp. It was used to imprison thousands of Korean independence activists until the liberation from the Japanese occupation on August 15, 1945, as well as the political prisoners during the political turmoil in the 1960s. When the prison was moved to Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do in November 1987, the area was restored and turned into a memorial park in August 15, 1992 to honor the sacrifices of the martyrs. The park preserves seven prison buildings, an execution ground, underground women’s prison, and the March 1st Movement Monument that has been moved from Tapgol Park in Jongno. One of the most significant monuments of the Seodaemun Independence Park is Dongnimmun Gate (Independence Gate), which has been designated a Historic Site. Nearby is Dongnipgwan (Independence Hall), originally called Mohwagwan, which was used to greet Chinese envoys during the Joseon dynasty. Today, the hall enshrines 2,327 tablets inscribed with the names of Koreans who died for the cause of national independence. Standing right next to Dongnimmun Gate are the remnants of Yeongeunmun Gate, another Historic Site. Other sights inside the park include the Patriotic Martyr Monument, Declaration of Independence Monument, and Statue of Dr. Seo Jae-pil, who was an independence activist and publisher of Korea’s first independent newspaper. The main highlight of the park is the Seodaemun Prison History Hall, a former prison building that was renovated into a history museum.

Seochon Village (서촌마을)

Seoul 45 Pirundae-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul (Nuha-dong) Seochon Village is the name given to the area to the west of Gyeongbokgung Palace. It is a historic village, home to old shops and hanok buildings that have stood the test of time. Korean traditions and contemporary sensibilities coexist within Seochon Village’s maze-like alleyways, creating the unique ambience that makes the district so beloved. One can find shops, guesthouses, cafés, and restaurants in the village.

Sejong-ro Park (세종로공원)

Seoul jiha 189, Sejong-daero, Jongno-gu, Seoul Sejong-ro Park is located next to Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in central Seoul. Inside the park, there are wooden benches and shaded areas where people can sit and relax. Also available are water fountains, a round outdoor stage, and various sculptures. The lunch crowd from the nearby office buildings often come to the park during weekdays. On the weekends, the park is also used as a venue for outdoor weddings. Seoul's anthem and the poem "Bulnori" by Ju Yo-han are written on a memorial stone that can be found inside the park.

Sejong Village Food Street (세종마을 음식문화거리)

Seoul Chebu-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul Previously known as Geumcheongyo Market, it was officially named Sejong Village Food Street in 2011, as King Sejong was born in this village. The street is full of lively energy and features both long-standing restaurants, also known as nopo in Korean, and recently established trendy eateries. Its convenient location and inviting atmosphere make it a popular place to visit.

Sealala Water Park (씨랄라 워터파크)

Seoul (2nd underground floor), 164, Mullae-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul Sealala Water Park is a water park at the heart of the city where one can enjoy water activities across the four seasons. Its name is a portmanteau of the sea and lala, symbolizing the fun one can have in the water park. Inspired by the Mediterranean, the water park has water flowing pool, slides, beach pools, the Kids Land, bath pools, and rotating slides. Amenities onsite include convenience stores, manhwa cafe, and a swimming equipment store. Nearby tourist sites include the Yeongdeungpo Park, The National Assembly Building, and the Yeouido Park.

Sangchonjae House (상촌재)

Seoul 12-11 , Jahamun-ro 17-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul Sangchonjae House, run by the Jongno Cultural Foundation, is a traditional hanok cultural space located in Sejong Village, Ogin-dong, Jongno-gu, and operates various cultural Korean programs such as exhibitions, educational experiences, and events to fully experience Korea's four seasons. The name Sangchonjae was conceived from the old name of Sejong Village, the western part of Gyeongbokgung Palace and the birthplace of King Sejong. The house reflects the lifestyle of an ordinary peasant during the Joseon dynasty. It consists of three buildings: the main building, the guesthouse known as sarangchae, and the annex. There is an experience center indoors offering tea ceremonies and traditional game experiences.

Samseongsan Holy Ground (삼성산성지)

Seoul 454-16, Hoam-ro, Gwanak-gu, Seoul During the Gihae Persecution of 1839, three French Catholic priests were sentenced to death for spreading Catholicism in Korea. Saint Laurent Joseph Marius Imbert (Bishop), Saint Pierre Philibert Maubant (Priest), and Saint Jacques Honore Chastan (Priest) were beheaded on September 21, 1839 at Saenamteo, currently known as the Saenamteo Catholic Holy Place of the Martyrs, and their bodies were buried at Samseongsan Mountain and later transferred to the grotto of Myeondong Cathedral.

Samseong Sunrise Park (삼성해맞이공원)

Seoul 39 Yeongdong-daero 128-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul Samseong Sunrise Park was opened in 2022 in what was originally a water supply facility. The park is located on a hill beside the Hangang River, offering beautiful views of the river and Seoul's landmark attractions such as Lotte Tower, Olympic-daero Boulevard, and Cheongdamdaegyo Bridge. The park also hosts a sunrise festival on the first day of every year.

Samgaksan Mountain (삼각산)

Seoul Samyang-ro 173-gil, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul Samgaksan Mountain is a mountain situated on the northern outskirts of Seoul, resembling a folding screen. Its name, meaning triangular mountain, is derived from the presence of three high peaks: Baegundae Peak, Insubong Peak, and Mangyeongdae Overlook. The highest peak, Baegundae Peak, offers a panoramic view of Seoul from its summit, featuring a spacious rock surface where many visitors can sit. Positioned behind Gyeongbokgung Palace, the palace of the Joseon dynasty, Samgaksan Mountain is visible from the rear of the Cheong Wa Dae.

Samcheong-dong Street (삼청동길)

Seoul 107 Samcheong-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul It is said that Samcheong-dong was named from the story about the three "cheong" (Chinese character meaning clean) of the area, namely the mountain, water, and people. Another theory is that the origin of the region's name came from Samcheongjeon Hall where three tablets called "Taecheong," "Sangcheong," and "Okcheong," were set up based on Taoism. Samcheong-dong Street features a mixture of old scenes of hanok buildings with traditional beauty and modern scenes of galleries and cafés, creating a unique atmosphere. Visitors can feel the abundant cultural mood at every corner of the street through the art galleries, museums, antique shops, and quiet pathways.
