Hyeopjaegul Lava Tube (Hallim Park) (협재굴(한림공원))

Jejudo 300 Hallim-ro, Jeju-si, Jeju-do Hyeopjaegul Lava Tube is one example of the lava tube systems of Jeju Island, along with Hwanggeumgul, Socheongul, Ssangyonggul and Manjanggul Lava Tubes. The cave is approximately 200 meters in length, 10 meters in x_width and 5 meters in x_height. It is thought to have been created by the lava that erupted from Hallasan Mountain some 25 million years ago. This cave uniquely contains features of both lava and limestone caves. The entire area surrounding the cave is a huge stratum of seashells and sand, while the interior of the cave has a mystical ambience due to its various formations such as stalactites and stalagmites, hanging from the ceiling and sprouting up from the bottom of the cave. The cave also features pillars formed when stalactites and stalagmites join together. The cave walls are covered in lime, which at times looks like beautiful cave paintings. The temperature inside the cave stays at 17~18℃ throughout the year, making the cave a welcome escape from the summer heat and a great place to keep warm during winter. Hyeopjaegul Lava Tube has been designated Natural Monument No. 236 and ranks among the world’s major mysterious caves, such as the stone salt cave of Peru and the underwater limestone caves of Yugoslavia. As Hyeopjaegul Lava Tube is close to Ssangyonggul Lava Tube, the two can be visited on the same day.

Hyeopjae Beach (협재해수욕장)

Jejudo 329-10 Hallim-ro, Hallim-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do Hyeopjae Beach, encircled by lush pine forests, seamlessly extends into Geumneung Beach. Hwasun Golden Sand Beach (화순 금모래 해변)

Jejudo Hwasunhaean-ro, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do Hwasun Golden Sand Beach is surrounded by beautiful nature. It is close to Sanbangsan Mountain and the Yongmeori Coastline, and the islands of Hyeongjedo, Marado, and Gapado are off the coast to the southwest. On one side of the beach is a fresh water spring where people can enjoy a freshwater bath. The beach is located in Hwasun-ri in Andeok-myeon, which is easily accessible andhas accommodations, shops, and restaurants.

Historic Site of Anti-Mongolian Struggle in Hangpadu-ri, Jej…

Jejudo 50, Hangpaduri-ro, Jeju-si, Jeju-do Historic Site of Anti-Mongolian Struggle in Hangpadu-ri is where the Sambyeolcho military unit of the Goryeo dynasty resisted the invasion of Mongolia until the last possible moment. The site houses an exhibition hall, a monument, and a unique mud fortress. Nearby is Jangsumul Spring (Jangsu means general) which flowed from the footprints of General Kim Tong-jeong. Today, water from the spring cannot be used as drinking water. Sambyeolcho was a military unit of the Goryeo dynasty. When the Goryeo dynasty made peace with the Mongolian forces in February 1270 (the 11th year of King Wonjong), the Sambyeolcho special defense unit opposed it and launched a resistance movement. They moved their base to Jindo in Jeollanam-do, but after suffering a huge defeat, they moved to Jeju-do and built Hangpaduseong Fortress. They continued to fight against the Mongolian forces for two more years there. However, all the members were killed in April 1273 (the 14th year of King Wonjong). This independent anti-Mongolian movement was born out the deeply patriotic belief in the need to safeguard the nation from foreign invasion. In 1977, the government invested 745 million won to restore part of the fortress and build a monument in commemoration of those who died in the war. The work was completed in June 1978.

Hwansang Gotjawal Forest (환상숲곶자왈공원)

Handam Coastal Trail (한담해안산책로)

Jejudo Gwakji-ri, Jeju-si, Jeju-do Handam Coastal Trail, also known as the Gwakgeum Olle Trail, is established along the shore from Aewol Port to Gwakjigwamul Beach. It beautifully harmonizes with the surrounding landscape. The trail runs 1.2 kilometers and visitors can walk on this coastal trail as waves crash right next to them. It is one of the "hidden gems of Jeju city" selected by the city in 2009 when 31 famous spots in Jeju-si other than the existing tourist attractions were chosen and announced. Uniquely-shaped rocks made by cooled and hardened lava grab the attention of passersby, and the trail that continuously winds along the beach featuring black rocks adds an element of excitement. Another appealing point is that it is a great place to watch the beautiful sunset as it is located on the west side of Jeju Island.

Hamo Beach (하모해변)

Jejudo Choenamdanhaean-ro, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do Hamo Beach is located near Moseulpo Port, and is sometimes referred to as Moseulpo Beach. The beach used to be open for swimming but a variety of issues caused the beach to close for safety. The beach is located along Jeju Olle Trail Course 10, and features a campground nearby. The campground is a paid service and requires advance reservation during peak season. In summer, visitors can enjoy sea walking here, a water leisure sport featuring a diver's helmet. Across from the beach is a field of sunflowers standing before Sanbangsan Mountain.

Hamdeok Seoubonghaebyeon Beach (함덕 서우봉 해변 (함덕해수욕장))

Jejudo 519-10 Johamhaean-ro, Jeju-si, Jeju-do Hamdeok Beach is located along Jeju Olle Trail Course 19. It is also referred to as Hamdeok Seoubonghaebyeon Beach due to the volcanic cone nearby. Located just 20 kilometers from Jeju International Airport, the beach is famous for its great scenery of emerald-blue waters, tall palm trees, and white sandy shore. The beach is considered one of Jeju's top three beaches. To the western end of the beach, there is a bridge built over the water. Additional amenities include a grassy field perfect for picnics and a coastal walking trail. In particular, many people visit during summer evenings to enjoy the night sea. Seoubong Volcanic Cone is beautiful in spring when it is covered in yellow canola blossoms. Climbing up to the summit offers fantastic views of the entire area, including Hallasan Mountain on clear days.

Hallim Port (한림항)

It was the place where Min Seon-ah (played by Shin Min-a) tried to end her life by throwing herself into the water. Hallim Park (한림공원)

Jejudo 300 Hallim-ro, Jeju-si, Jeju-do Hallim Park is one of the most popular tourist spots on Jeju Island, located approximately 33 kilometers west of Jeju-si and Hallasan Mountain along the beach in Hallim-eup. It faces the pleasant scenery of Biyangdo Island, Hyeopjae Beach, and Geumneung Beach. Hallasan Mountain [National Geopark] (한라산 (제주도 국가지질공원))

Jejudo 2070-61 1100-ro, Jeju-si, Jeju-do Hallasan Mountain stands proudly at the center of Jeju Island and is perhaps the island’s most memorable landmark. Also called Yeongjusan Mountain, meaning "mountain high enough to pull the galaxy," Hallasan Mountain is widely known by scientists for its geological value. Designated as a national park in 1970, there are 368 parasitic cones called "oreum" (Jeju dialect meaning peak) around the main mountain. Hallasan Mountain is famous for its vertical ecosystem of plants that results from the varying temperatures along the mountainside.
