Hajodae Scenic Point (하조대)
Gangwondo Hagwangjeong-ri, Hyeonbuk-myeon, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do The rocky coastline along Hyeonbuk-myeon in Yangyang called Hajodae is one of the Eight Sights of Yangyang. The coastline boasts unique rock formations and rocky islets, creating a unique scenery along with the nearby pine forest. The name Hajodae originated from the surnames of Ha Ryun and Jo Jun, two late Goryeo-era officials who plotted to overthrow the dynasty and would eventually become one of the founding officials of Joseon. A pavilion, also named Hajodae Pavilion, can be found on top of the coastal cliff. Today’s pavilion is a restoration dating back to 1998, while the original was raised during the reign of King Jeongjong of the Joseon dynasty and underwent numerous renovations. The pavilion is a favorite scenic point for many visitors. An old pine tree standing upright on the rocky cliff was made famous for its appearance on the broadcasted screen for the national anthem of Korea. Following the decked walkways from the pavilion brings one to the white unmanned lighthouse, or the nearby Hajodae Trail and Observatory. Hajodae Beach can be found about 1 kilometer to the northwest of the area. Its relatively shallow depth, reaching no more than 1.5 meters, makes it ideal for families with small children.

Haepungbuwongun Yun Taekyeong's Jaesil (해풍부원군윤택영댁재실)
Seoul 28, Toegye-ro 34-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul Haepungbuwongun Yun Taekyeong's Jaesil is a shrine house built by the father-in-law of King Sunjong of Joseon dynasty in 1906 when his daughter was proclaimed the crowned princess of Joseon and entered Changdeokgung Palace to later become Queen Sunjeong. Red pine trees salvaged from the demolition of Gyeongungung Palace were used to construct the house. It was originally located in Jegi-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, but was later restored and moved to its present location. The shrine of the house that was destroyed in 1960 was also restored. Because the house is more of a shrine rather than residential living quarters, it has many unique features. For example, unlike other houses, it has the anchae (women’s quarters) located across from sarangbang (men’s quarters) with daecheong (living room) positioned between them.
